Milestone alert! We launched our second release of the Broken Staff CRPG on November 11, 2014. In that version the XML was improved and upgraded substantially and we also included the first version of the System Browser utility written in C#. The System browser was created to help people who are not into coding view the data in an easy to understand format. This is the first in a series of posts where I will be outlining the Broken Staff CRPG system and giving an introduction into how it works. Introducing… Effects! At the heart of the Broken Staff CRPG system are effects. You can find the effect information in two files: Effects.xml and EffectTypes.xml. Effect types are just a way of organizing effects into different groups. EffectTypes.xml EffectTypes.xml lists the 6 types of effects currently used by the system. It was a great day (back on June 25, 2014) here at Broken Staff Studios when we released a first alpha of the BSCRPG system. It has grown and improved a lot since then, it is interesting to see how far it has come already in this short period of time. See here for more details.
